Police write up letter to “Motorcycle Guy,” rider putting himself and others in danger

BLOOMINGTON, ILL (BIKER DAD)–Police in Illinois have written an open letter to “Motorcycle Guy.” That’s a man on a motorcycle they say is putting himself and everyone else around him in danger.
The Bloomington Police Department posted it on Facebook saying, “our officers have responded to four calls involving your reckless driving in the past three weeks. During each incident, you have been seen weaving in between moving vehicles while riding a “wheelie” on your motorcycle.”

Police say they tried to stop him last week but he ran off, “we have a pile of tickets for you to include Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer, Operating a Motorcycle on One Wheel.” The list goes on and on.
But will the public shaming actually lead to tips? “Notice how 90% of the reactions are laughing at you….. take that in for a minute,” one person commented on the post that’s been shared nearly two thousand times.
“Why not go after rapists, killers, and drug dealers instead of trying to get the public to snitch on someone who has not yet caused harm,” another reader said.
Another person commented “maybe in his obit his family can refer to him as The Motorcycle Guy. Preceded in death by common sense. Left behind multiple tickets.”
In the letter, police say the reckless biker is white guy in his 20s wearing a German style helmet, red jacket, tan pants , black Nike fanny pack and gray vintage. “You’re not just putting your life at risk – you’re putting everyone on the road at risk as well. To pick up your tickets, please call Ofc. N. Jones at 309-820-8888. If anyone else can ID you, we are encouraging them to call the same number as well. Thanks,” the post ends.
