BREAKING: The Sheriff’s Department announced late Tuesday there was an arrest in the case according to WXII-TV. They say Marvin Calvin Cox Jr. was arrested in Kentucky but is from the area where the shooting happened.
UPDATE: Sheriff Sam Page held a press conference Tuesday. He says that their investigation indicates the shootings of three bikers on a North Carolina highway were not random. He believes the bikers were targeted. One person died at the scene. Another died later at a hospital. The 3rd victim was treated and released at the scene. The sheriff refused to answer most of the reporters’ questions including if the bikers were part of an MC or other motorcycle group. He also would not confirm if the department knew if the motorcycle riders shot back, nor if there was an argument before the barrage of gunfire. The department is not releasing any information on the bikers for the safety of the surviving victim and families of the victims. The sheriff’s office says 911 calls will be released. Investigators are still not sure if there was one or more shooter. They consider whoever was in that vehicle armed and dangerous.
The Sheriff says the unknown is what “makes law enforcement in our state and across the country so dangerous. You have to walk into situations or run into situation. You don’t necessarily know all of the information at the time. But when people are using guns it’s usually dangerous, it’s usually violent and we’ve gotta get in there and try to save lives.”
