LANSING, Mich. (BIKER DAD)–From gridiron to Iron Butt. A Michigan High School football coach got saddle sore for his team and the other athletes at Springport High School in Lansing Michigan. Coach Matt Burgess raised $7,500 riding his 2007 Harley Davidson Road King around Lake Michigan.

He rode 1 thousand miles in less than 24 hours as part of the Iron Butt Association’s Saddle Sore 1000 challenge. He promoted it on Facebook and used the ride to raise funds.

“Overwhelmed and overjoyed about what this has become,” he said in a video he posted to Facebook.

He made the ride that looped around the entire lake with three buddies. They shared the map of their adventure on Facebook as well

Coaches latest post says he’s submitted the paperwork and is awaiting certification from the Iron Butt Association. The ride took them 1,068 miles and took 21 hours. If you’d like to help his mission, you can still donate here.
