MCKINNEY, Tex. (BIKER DAD) — He “isn’t much of a man,” says the wife of a motorcyclist . A Texas mayor involved in a motorcycle hit and run is under fire from friends and family of that biker. WFAA reports that friends and family gathered outside the hospital where 72-year-old Rodney Carver is being treated.

McKinney, Texas Police say the Mayor of Prosper was involved in an accident with Carver, and left the scene without helping. That’s a crime in Texas even if he didn’t cause the crash. You can see WFAA’s full video report in the player above.
Police say the mayor slammed on his brakes to avoid another car and Carver rear-ended him. The mayor then left the scene of the crash and left Carver behind in critical condition. Mayor Ray Smith claims another vehicle came around him after the crash. He thought that car had hit him, not a bike and went after it. He claims he didn’t know there was a biker lying in the road. Police say Smith’s truck dragged the bike 27 feet as he took off.
“I’m focused on him, not the mayor. He doesn’t mean that much to me. As a man? He’s proven he’s not much of that either,” Barbara Carver, the victim’s wife told WFAA. “That was a hard hit. That wasn’t something where someone just goes up, and, ‘oh, I touched your bumper,’ and moved on,” she said.
A grand jury will decide if Smith will face charges.
