UPDATE: Police have identified the victims as a married couple from Daytona Beach who were on their way home from Main Street. According to WESH 2 News, authorities confirmed the identity of the pair as 48-year-old Terry Aultman and 55-year-old Brenda Aultman.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (BIKER DAD) — A Daytona Bike Week murder near Main Street has police investigating possible connections with the event and a gruesome crime. WESH 2 News reports a married couple found murdered not far from Main Street had left bike week activities. The person who found them thought it was a hit-and-run but police discovered their throats had been slashed.
“This is probably one of the most vicious and gruesome incidents that I’ve witnessed in my 20 years,” Chief Jakari Young said. “We can’t rule out that this may be totally random, but if it is totally random, the person responsible has to be deranged.”
The couple was on bicycles, not motorcycles. But police believe they had been on Main Street, the epicenter for Daytona Bike Week. They are scouring surveillance video on Main to see if it can provide any clues.
Police say they don’t know if it was a random attack, but if it was the person responsible is “deranged.” That’s obviously concerning for the hundreds of thousands visiting the area during Bike Week, that a deranged random killer might be on the loose.
Police had very little description to go on. You can see my full video in the box above or by subscribing to the Biker Dad Youtube channel.
The Biker Dad crew is heading to Daytona in a few days so we will stay on top of the story.
