Dad to the Bone

According to WAPT TV;

One person was killed Sunday as a result of a police chase that began in Pearl and ended in Flowood.

Rankin County Sheriff’s Office spokesman captain Paul Holley said the chase started in Pearl and ended about 7 p.m. at the intersection of Flowood Drive and Old Fannin Road. 

Pearl public information officer Greg Flynn said a Pearl police officer pursued a silver sedan into Flowood, where police there joined the chase.

The chase ended when the vehicle that was being pursued crashed into a motorcycle and wrecked in the grass at the Fleetway Market gas station, authorities said.

Rankin County coroner David Ruth confirmed one man is dead as a result of the crash. 

Pearl police, Flowood police, the Rankin County Sheriff’s office and the Flowood Fire Department responded to the scene.

No word on what sparked the chase. 

Sunday’s incident is the second in less than a month that involved Pearl police and ended with the death of a bystander. Three weeks ago, another vehicle being pursued by police crashed into a U.S. Postal Service truck in Jackson, killing mail carrier Brad Pennington, 32.
