Another major safety recall has been issued for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, affecting more than 88,000 bikes from model years 2024 through 2026, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
This marks the second major Harley-Davidson recall in just a matter of weeks, raising fresh attention around recent manufacturing and safety issues impacting the brand.
The Latest Recall
The recall involves 88,039 motorcycles due to a defect involving the engine airbox backplate breather port.
According to NHTSA filings, the issue can allow pressure to build inside the crankcase if the breather port becomes blocked. In some cases, this pressure can cause engine oil to be forced out of the system when the motorcycle is running or when the oil dipstick is removed.
Harley-Davidson says the condition can increase the risk of injury to riders.
Models Affected
The recall includes multiple popular touring and cruiser models, including:
- 2024–2026 Road Glide
- 2024–2026 Street Glide
- 2025 Street Glide Ultra
- 2025–2026 Fat Boy
- 2025–2026 Breakout
- 2026 Road Glide Special and related variants
More than 75,000 of the affected units are Road Glide and Street Glide models alone.
Previous Recall Earlier This Spring
This latest action follows another recall issued in April affecting nearly 17,000 Softail motorcycles.
That recall involved a separate issue where the rear brake line could contact the body control module, potentially causing brake fluid leaks and loss of rear braking ability.
What Owners Should Know
Harley-Davidson has stated that affected owners will be notified directly, and dealers will inspect and repair the issue at no cost.
Motorcycle owners can also check their VIN through the NHTSA recall database to confirm whether their bike is included.
