Mongols Chapter President Arrested in Deltona Drug Raid
DELTONA, FL — A motorcycle club chapter president is facing multiple felony charges after Volusia County deputies executed a search warrant at a Deltona home Friday.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood identified the suspect as Jose Vega, whom he described as the president of a local chapter of the Mongols.
According to the sheriff, the search came after investigators received reports alleging that drugs were being sold from the home.
Vega is facing charges that include possession of cocaine with intent to sell and four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, according to Chitwood.
Authorities reportedly found cocaine inside the residence, with Chitwood saying some of the drugs had been tossed into a toilet when deputies arrived.
Two children were also inside the home during the search. According to the sheriff, the children were turned over to a family member.
The charges are allegations, and Vega is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The case remains under investigation, and additional details about the search and the other two arrests had not been released in the information provided by the sheriff.
