Officer Tackles Motorcyclist After He Runs From Crash

A motorcycle crash in Canada ended with a dramatic foot chase — and a police officer taking the fleeing rider to the ground.

Video released by York Regional Police shows an officer approaching a motorcyclist who had reportedly run from the scene of a crash.

The rider appears to be walking away from the area when the officer closes the distance and takes him down from behind in what police described as a “blindside approach.”

The incident was captured on police video and quickly drew attention because of the unusual way the officer ended the pursuit.

According to police, the motorcyclist had been involved in a crash before fleeing the scene. Officers eventually located him and took him into custody.

The video shows just how quickly a situation can change after a motorcycle crash. Rather than remaining at the scene, the rider attempted to get away on foot — leading to the confrontation with police.

Authorities have not indicated that the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries during the takedown.

The incident is a reminder that leaving the scene of a crash can turn an already serious situation into an even bigger legal problem.
