UPDATE: WPIX reportsPolice arrested the alleged dirt bike driver accused of critically injuring a 4-year-old boy in a Queens parking lot hit-and-run, NYPD officials said.

NEW YORK CITY ( BIKER DAD) — Cops in New York City are searching for an illegal dirt biker who nearly killed a 4-year-old. Police say the man was racing through a parking lot in a park when he hit the child. The child suffered critical injuries, including head injuries.

NYPD posted a press conference on its Facebook page. There is now a $10 thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest in the Sunday incident. Police say the suspect is Hispanic and in his late 20s or early 30s.

An NYPD official said the child is doing better. But she says the illegal dirt bike crowd is out of control “they are dangerous because people are using them to speed through the streets, which are very populated. ..what we’ve been attempted to do throughout the city and with the help of the precincts dealing with this is that we directly enforce this particular situation.”

NYPD says it will seize and destroy the dirt bikes. They are even searching and destroying bikes stored in storage facilities because it’s not legal to park vehicles with gasoline in them.

“@e are not going to tolerate these bikes being used on our streets. As you can see when a 4-year-old child is playing in a parking lot and you have people racing in a parking lot with these illegal vehicles, it’s dangerous,” the official said.

Earlier we reported on other illegal dirt bikers who attacked a postal worker in NYC.
