Deadly start to “Motorcycle Safety Awareness” month

May is supposed to be motorcycle safety awareness month. But as you can see from the headlines below, it’s proving to be a deadly month across the country. These are just a few of the stories I’ve run across this week alone.

And there are many, many, many more examples. Looking twice for motorcycles clearly isn’t a priority for most drivers. This despite the loud calls and loud pipes. Even most state governments have “look twice” campaigns going. But what’s the use it seems? One thing you can do is to join a group such as ABATE to fight for motorcycle rights and safety. I’m a lifetime member of Alabama’s ABATE chapter and a member of Florida ABATE.
