RENTON, WA (BIKER DAD) — Unsecured loads and poorly attached trailers aren’t just trashy. They can be deadly to bikers. And an unhitched trailer on Interstate 405 near Renton, Washington nearly killed a motorcyclist on Oct. 24.

According to the Washington State Patrol a motorcyclist hit an abandoned trailer in the HOV on I-405

Washington State Patrol communications received 911 calls at approximately 7:50 p.m. regarding a collision involving a motorcycle on northbound Interstate 405 near Northeast 44th Street in Renton.

Washington State Patrol detectives have requested public assistance in finding information and dashcam footage of the collision.

According to a news release, an investigation determined an unknown vehicle lost a trailer in the HOV lane of the highway. A motorcyclist struck the abandoned trailer, semi-ejecting the rider. The rider sustained serious injuries from the collision.

Investigation continues into the incident.
