Hit-And-Run Driver Leaves Motorcyclist Seriously Injured near Seattle

A motorcyclist was left seriously injured Wednesday morning after a hit-and-run crash shut down southbound I-405 near Sunset Boulevard in Renton, Washington.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver responsible for the crash fled the scene instead of stopping to help the injured rider. Troopers are now investigating the collision as a felony vehicular assault and are actively searching for the suspect vehicle.

The crash forced authorities to close all southbound lanes of I-405 during the morning commute while investigators worked the scene. Traffic quickly backed up through the Renton area as emergency crews responded.

For riders, stories like this hit hard. Every biker knows the risks that come with sharing the road, but one of the worst fears is being left behind by a driver who refuses to take responsibility after a crash.

At this time, investigators have not released details about the suspect vehicle or the condition of the rider beyond reporting serious injuries.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is urged to contact the Washington State Patrol.
