Motorcycle Launched Into Traffic Light After Violent Crash in Canada

What looked like something out of an action movie became a terrifying reality in British Columbia this week after a motorcycle was left dangling from a traffic light following a violent crash with a car.

The wreck happened Saturday afternoon in Delta, a suburb in Metro Vancouver, near the Surrey-Delta border. According to the Delta Police Department, officers responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a silver sedan at a busy intersection. Authorities say speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.

Video and photos from the scene quickly went viral online, showing the motorcycle somehow suspended high above the roadway by its front wheel after the impact launched it into the air. Witnesses described the aftermath as surreal, with debris scattered across the intersection while emergency crews rushed to help the injured rider.

Police said the motorcyclist suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The driver of the car was not injured.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows the motorcycle colliding with the turning vehicle before both the rider and bike were thrown skyward. Firefighters later worked to safely remove the mangled motorcycle from the traffic signal while securing the scene for investigators.

While investigators continue piecing together exactly what happened, the crash is another harsh reminder of how quickly speed and split-second decisions can turn catastrophic for riders. Even experienced motorcyclists can find themselves in situations where there’s little time to react, especially at intersections where drivers often misjudge an approaching bike’s speed and distance.

The images from Canada may look unbelievable, but for riders everywhere, they highlight a very real truth: intersections remain one of the most dangerous places on the road for motorcyclists.

Authorities have not yet released the rider’s identity or announced whether charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
