A police pursuit in Baldwin County turned deadly after a motorcyclist crashed while fleeing officers, according to authorities.
The pursuit began when an officer attempted to stop a motorcycle that was reportedly being operated recklessly near Central Baldwin Middle School. Instead of stopping, the rider accelerated away, leading officers on a brief pursuit. (Facebook)
According to investigators, the chase ended when the motorcycle collided with a pickup truck towing lawn equipment near the intersection of Black Devine Road and Railroad Avenue. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the motorcyclist’s identity as the investigation continues. (Facebook)
A witness who saw the pursuit told WKRG that everything unfolded in a matter of seconds.
“I was shocked,” the witness said, describing how quickly the motorcycle and pursuing police vehicles passed before the crash occurred. (Facebook)
