Bikers will demonstrate in honor of Florida rider killed by illegal u-turn

UPDATE:

Family members have identified to Biker Dad the name of the 29-year-old victim.

David John Conrey was an avid rider according to his brother and mother who spoke to me about the young man.

They say he was a great young man who loved life and loved riding . His brother tells me they talked about the dangerous roads in our area, but if you know what it’s like to be obsessed with riding, that would never keep him off the road . And let’s face it, riders have every right to enjoy our roads and make it home to our families alive and safe. His brother tells me he went by “Dirty Dave” and even had it sewn in his jacket .

His mother tells me he’s had a joy for life, bikes, cars and dogs since he was a small child.

Honoring his memory

Biker Dad, family, friends and other communities will hold a demonstration Friday in his honor.. and urge drivers to LOOK TWICE!

COME SUPPORT MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS 4-6PM

David John Conrey was only 29 years old, but was suddenly taken from his family when a driver made a U-Turn in front of him last weekend.

He lived to ride. It was in his blood. Although his family may take some comfort knowing he died doing what he loved, they do not want anyone else to experience that unimaginable loss.

Family, friends and the biker community will be at the scene of the crash remembering him and holding a demonstration, urging drivers to LOOK TWICE FOR MOTORCYCLES.
Everyone is welcome . If you see us demonstrating Friday show your support by honking your horn in his honor !

Another rider is dead after a driver reportedly turned directly into the path of an oncoming motorcycle because they “failed to see” him.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:35 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of New Warrington Road and Martha Avenue in Escambia County.

Investigators say a 22-year-old Pensacola man was driving a sedan northbound on New Warrington Road and attempted to make a U-turn at Martha Avenue. As he turned, he reportedly failed to see a 29-year-old Pensacola motorcyclist who was traveling southbound.

The motorcycle slammed into the passenger side of the sedan.

The rider suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver of the sedan was not reported to have serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Once again, investigators point to one of the most common causes of fatal motorcycle crashes: a driver who simply didn’t see the motorcycle before turning. Riders can do everything right and still have only seconds to react when another vehicle crosses into their path.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the fallen rider.
