A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday night after a three-vehicle crash in Wakulla County, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:45 p.m. on Spring Creek Highway near Cayuse Drive. (WTXL)
FHP investigators say the motorcyclist was traveling north on Spring Creek Highway when the motorcycle struck the rear of an SUV traveling in the same direction.
The impact sent the motorcycle into the path of another vehicle traveling southbound, resulting in a second collision.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
Spring Creek Highway was temporarily shut down while authorities investigated the crash.
FHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. No additional information about the motorcyclist has been released at this time.
For riders, this is another reminder that following distance and situational awareness can be critical. A moment of inattention or an unexpected slowdown can leave a motorcyclist with very little room to react.
