Drunk biker crashes motorcycle, steals elderly person’s car

A 40-year-old Ohio man is facing charges after police say he crashed a motorcycle and then stole a car from an elderly person.

According to police, Robert Lain, 40, of New London, was involved in a motorcycle crash in Norwalk before allegedly taking an elderly person’s vehicle and leaving the area.

Police say Lain was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. Authorities also say he has three prior OVI convictions, potentially adding to the seriousness of the current case.

The incident remains under investigation, and Lain is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in court.

For motorcyclists, the case is another reminder of how quickly the circumstances surrounding a crash can escalate. A motorcycle crash can leave a rider vulnerable, but leaving the scene or becoming involved in another offense can create even more serious legal consequences.
